Protein Smoothie Recipe

Happy Summer Solstice! ☀️

Today I thought I’d share my favorite smoothie recipe with you.

Smoothies are great for when you need nutrition on the run or something easy to tide you over between meals. This one also makes for a very replenishing post-workout snack, when you need to refuel but might not have a huge appetite.

Chocolate Banana Nut Butter Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 1 frozen banana

  • 1 tbsp. peanut butter (or whatever kind of nut butter you like)

  • 1 tbsp. cocoa powder

  • 1 tbsp. chia seeds

  • 1/2C crushed ice

  • 1C almond milk (any kind of dairy or non-dairy milk will do)

  • 1 serving of protein powder (roughly 20-25g protein) or 1C plain Greek yogurt

Add first six ingredients and blend on high until smooth, then add protein powder and blend on low until fully incorporated.

Not a fan of banana or peanut butter? Use a cup of frozen berries and almond butter instead.

If you like your smoothie on the sweeter side, use a really ripe banana or throw in 1-2 pitted dates. (Soaking dates in warm water for 5 minutes beforehand will make them MUCH easier to blend.)

Give this fiber-packed snack a try and let me know how you like it!
